Location - Beccehamian RFC are based at Sparrow's Den in West Wickham, Kent in the London Borough of Bromley.
We are around 3 miles from Bromley South station, 1 mile from Hayes station and 1 mile from West Wickham station.
The ground is at the foot of Corkscrew Hill at the junction with the Addington Road (A2022).
How to get here -
- from the M25 J4
- Turn off the M25 at J4 and take the A21 heading towards London. You need to stay on the A21 through Green St Green and Farnborough and this will take you over numerous roundabouts and traffic lights - but keep following the A21.
- Just past Farnborough Hospital (on your right) will be a main junction with the A232. Turn left onto the A232 (Croydon Road) towards West Wickham and Beckenham.
- Continue on the A232 through Keston Mark traffic light junction and down the steep hill into West Wickham.
At the roundabout turn left onto the A2022 (New Addington Road) and then at the next roundabout turn right onto Corkscrew Hill. Beccehamian Rugby Club is immediately on your left.
- from the M25 J6
- Turn off the M25 J6 and take the A22 heading towards Croydon. Continue over the first two roundabouts and then around 3 miles down the road take a right turn into St James' Road which connects the A22 with the A2022.
- Turn right onto the A2022 and follow the A2022/B269 through numerous roundabouts and junctions until it becomes the Addington Road. After around 4 miles on the Addington Road there will be an open space with Spring Park on the left and you may spot Shirley Wanderers.
- Turn left at the next roundabout onto Corkscrew Hill and Beccehamian Rugby Club is immediately on your left.
- if you get lost - doh!
- Ring the Clubhouse on 020-8777-8105 and someone will try to direct you!
About the Ground - Sparrow's Den is owned by the London Borough of Bromley and the club has used
the ground under licence for about 30 years. The club are 'delegated managers' of rugby at Sparrow's
Den which means they have the sole right to organise all rugby matches at the ground as well as to sub-let
the pitches if the opportunity arises. The pitches ae also made available to other organisations when not
required by the club. The pitches are maintained by contractors and there is a close liaison between the club and
the Borough to ensure that the standard of playing surface meets the requirements of rugby.
Facilities -
The clubhouse was built in 1971, designed by club member Peter Moore and constructed with help from many members.
It is a two storey building with changing rooms on the ground floor and bar, kitchen and function hall
on the upper floor. The bar is always open on Tuesday club evenings as wel as Sunday lunchtimes and Saturdays after matches.
Out of season, the hall can be hired for parties and events.
