News of former players

Pete Bennett (ca 1980's) made contact from Australia. He was a contemporary of Jofty Adkins in the Colts and was back then in the UK while his father was posted here in the Australian Airforce. He subsequently played first class Rugby back in Australia and is one of only two people I know who have played against the All Blacks - and lived!

Dave Adamson (ca 1956-60) recently made contact by e-mail having found the club's web site for the first time. He is retired from H.M. Customs and is living in Cornwall.

Tony Dommett (1969-79) has made contact recently. He renewed his 200 Club membership for "about the 30th year" - although it may be longer. He still lives in Ivybridge, Devon.

John Bishop, has made contact after a number of years. He has been a member of the 200 Club for many years. He moved some time ago from his house on Corkscrew Hill (the closest any member has lived to the club!) and now lives in Greenwich.

Alan Harding (ca 1958 - 70) also lives in Greenwich. Alan has been a member of the 200 Club since it started in the1960's and recently put in an appearance at the 200 Club Lunch on December 12th.

He played wing forward (as it was then!) and, after representing the club at all levels, went on to be our most successful Ex.B XV captain ever. That judgement is based on the fact that he always managed to get together 15 players by Saturday each week. His main exhortation to his team on the pitch was "Come on you shower!"

Rex Wearn was in contact while renewing his 200 Club membership. He lives in Berkshire with wife Mary. Their daughter is now grown up and married - time flies! Brother Ross Wearn is also a long-time member of the 200 Club and was in contact by e-mail recently as was Mike ("Springer the Winger") Springthorpe.

Honorary member, Geoff Barraclough, recently made contact after a number of years and was pleased to receive the recent club newsletter. Geoff was a Kent Society referee for a number of years in the 1960's and 1970's. He now lives in Dorset.

Peter Mitchell who retired from HSBC more than a decade ago, was surprised to meet Ian Chapman at a recent lunch for former employees. Ian was a contemporary of Tony Kallend, Dennis Oakley, Roger Belsey and Dave Loades at Beceknham Grammar School and played for the club in the 1960's. He is the brother of Monty Chapman who was always rumoured to be about to make a come-back. We're still waiting Monty!

Incidentally, our e-mails are no longer reaching Roger Belsey. Has he changed his e-mail address?
