April 2004 - Update
Results
Well done to all of the boys who went to the various Kent Festivals, every side qualified through to one of the next rounds either coming first or second in their groups. Special congratulations go to the U11’s who reached the final of the main Cup competition, however, after a very long day and an extra time semi-final they were unlucky losers to a very strong Blackheath side.
U7’s – Won all 4 of their matches
U8’s – Semi-finalists in the Plate competition, rain cancelled play, awaiting re-arrangement
U9’s – Semi-finalists in the Plate competition, rain cancelled play, awaiting re-arrangement
U10’s – Quarter-finalists in the Plate competition
U11’s – Kent Cup runners up
U12’s – Quarter-finalists in the Plate competition, knocked out in extra time (golden try)
It is RFU regulations that the squads for Festivals are limited, so unfortunately we are unable to take more than permitted, so some boys will be disappointed. However, due to the popularity of rugby at the moment there have a couple of B Festivals and the U7’s and U10’s have attended these. Well done to the U10’s who were runners-up in their competition and also big thank you to the dads who helped organize the players on those days.
Warmwell Tour 16-18th April.
Your coach should have passed you the relevant details by now. Please note that at the Bournemouth Festival they employ a strict no blades policy for boots, please ensure that you have suitable foot ware. Meet in the main hall area on Saturday morning at 9:30 for information on the weekend’s activities. I hope you enjoy yourselves.
Remaining Weekends
We are rapidly approaching the end of another long season and for the remaining weekends we are not going to be around too much. The remaining weekends are as follows:
- 11th April Easter weekend – No Practice
- 18th April Tour Weekend – No practice
- 25th April Worthing Festival – See your coaches for details
- 2nd May – last day of season - Fun day and hopefully BBQ
Presentation Night – Friday 30th April 7pm
The Presentation evening will be on Friday 30th April at 7pm. This is were we hand out the certificates from the Festivals, say thanks to all of the volunteers and award the Player’s Player of the year for each age group. You should receive a small leaflet to vote for your player of the year from your coach, please complete and pass back as soon as possible. Please make every effort to attend.
Volunteers
The Mini section and entire club is run by volunteers, we need your assistance to help run the club and provide the facilities that your children enjoy. If you think you can spare some time to assist in some capacity or other then please contact either myself or Robbie Broadhurst (U10’s and next season’s Mini Chairman) every little bit helps. The Mini and youth sections have both grown by 20-30% this year and we need some extra help. Finally, a big thank you to all those who have helped over another successful season.
Regards,
Nigel
