3rd Oct 2004 - Foxbury Festival Match Report
Played 4 - Won 1; Drew 3
This is the first time we have entered the Foxbury Festival and only after two practice matches with new players on board we went into the unknown.
The team consisted of, Tim Viney, Elliot Peters, Michael Rochester, Harrison Lear, Matthew Georgel, Cameron Macaskill, Jack Pitman, Harry Scott-Munro, Max Talliss and Thomas Wright. All of them turned up sporting de-glow gum shields, new team colours, clean boots and a twist of madness in their eyes!
While the other teams were warming up, training, looking good, the Beccs were bundling, climbing trees and consuming enough ‘e’ s to explode. Nothing was going to put them off their rugby.
Our first game was against Blackheath ‘A’. They started and took the game into our half. We were like a wall solid and with structure. With great tackling and support play we took our first try with new recruit Tom W going over the line 1-0. End to end play at half time saw the score 2-1 (to Blackheath). Half time sweets, new subs and pride in front of mum and dad, Beccs were outstanding. Forward running, taking the tag, passing to supporting players we drew, went in front and at full time the score was…3-3.
That set today’s standard with a win over Sidcup 4-3 and another draw against a Blackheath ‘B’ 3-3; we were undefeated. After the Plate presentation Blackheath ‘A’ asked for a ‘friendly’ match 10mins each way. No problem, the boys were on a high. Blackheath came out with determination but we held them again to a 2-2 draw.
Man of the match: Cameron Macaskill
Supporting player: Harry Scott-Munro.
Well-done chaps, Del.
