13th March - 2005 - Kent Festival Match Report Played 4 - Won 3; Drew 1 Photo of the squad more.. A cold day at Tonbridge heralded what Del and I believe was the best performance from our U7’s team this season. Our team was; Matthew Georgel, Alex Donovan, Tim Viney, Harrison Lear, Tom Wright, Max Talliss, Cameron Macaskill, Michael Rochester, Elliot Peters & Jacob Ferguson. Our first match at 9.45am was against Sidcup, delicately balanced at 3-3 at half time, we ran out winners at 7-5 by the end of the match. Trys were scored by Tom Wright (3 – a hat-trick!!!), Harrison Lear (1), Max Talliss (1), Michael Rochester (1) and Cameron Macaskill (1). A superb show of strength, great tagging and to cap it all a gorgeous passage of play which culminated in Elliot Peters drawing 3 Sidcup players into a tackle and then offloading a lovely pass to Tom Wright who had clear space in front of him to allow him to run in an unchallenged try. Our second match at 10.30am was against Old Colfeians. 3-1 at half time, and following a concerted effort we ran out winners by 5-2 at the end. Trys were scored by Cameron Macaskill (2), Tom Wright (1), Tim Viney (1) and Harrison Lear (1). In this match we used some of our substitutes to good effect with Tim Viney coming on to score a great try. The highlight of the match was a screaming run down the line by Cameron Macaskill which resulted in a try and two of the Old Colfeian players being left on their backs some 10 yards behind him. His expression of angelic graciousness as he ran back to join his team-mates was a joy to behold. Our third match at 11.45am was against Old Elthamians who at the time were also unbeaten. 3-3 at half time, we were severely stretched in the second half as Old Elthamians exerted pressure on our defence line. We managed to get a draw at 6-6 at full time, thanks to a last second try by Max Talliss to save the day. This match was a stern test of our mettle and the ability of the team to work through adversity. They all passed with flying colours. Del and I are extremely proud of the efforts and achievements of the team at the festival and we hope we can build on this success to achieve greater success as the season draws to a close. We would not like to nominate a single “man of the match” as everyone gave their own special skills to the team. We would like to thank Tonbridge Juddians for a superbly run festival with great facilities and marshalling. We would also like to thank our opponents on the day for a fun and enjoyable time.
