Under 7 mini rugby is played with 7 players on each side, and is where it all begins! They play with a size 3 ball on a pitch which is approximately a quarter that of a normal full size pitch Mini rugby at this level is called TAG rugby, where each boy wears a TAG belt with 2 tags dangling from it. A tackle occurs when a player is Tagged. There are no scrums, line-outs or contact at this age group. It’s all about having fun at this age group and just trying to get them to run forward and pass backwards. Introduction to Mini Age Groups.
