The U7's Coaches (2004/05): Meet the Coaches Del Peters U7 Coach Nick Hallam U7 Coach Under 7 mini rugby is played with 7 players on each side, and is where it all begins! They play with a size 3 ball on a pitch which is approximately a quarter that of a normal full size pitch Mini rugby at this level is called TAG rugby, where each boy wears a TAG belt with 2 tags dangling from it. A tackle occurs when a player is Tagged. There are no scrums, line-outs or contact at this age group. It’s all about having fun at this age group and just trying to get them to run forward and pass backwards.
