Tues 4th April - Beccs IRON Man Competition
The Social Committee held the inagural Beccs 'Iron Man' competition last night with 8 entrants. The event was a simple exercise of drinking, eating, and running in between, but all contestants needed to keep everything that they had consumed inside them by the time that they finished. Hightower was the first faller, as he was unable to complete the first drinking exercise after only 30 seconds – Pathetic! The rest got into the event with Tom and Danny taking early leads. The raw onion proved a bit of a struggle for most and the ultimate undoing of 3 more contestants by the end of the second lap. However, by the end of the 3rd lap there were still 4 left. Tom Warne eventually won - but is still running around after eating the final task - the raw chilli. Danny Kemp came a debatable second as he completed all of the tasks, but, as on more than one occasion he failed to keep things inside, and in strick keeping within the initial rules, second place therefore went to Ben Thirkettle, who did keep everything down and was only a couple of seconds behind Danny anyway. The final place and the last finisher was Matt Appleton displaying great strength of mind over matter! Has anyone seen Tom – or is he still running!

U10s, U11s and U12s all played in the Kent Mini Festival today.
The U12s preformed brilliantly to reach the Cup Final without conceeding a try all day and beating Canterbury, last years winners, on route. There they met Cranbrook (last years runners-up) and a Cranbrook try just before half-time was the only difference between the two sides at the end of the match, resulting in Beccs coming Runners-up.
The U11s also did themeselves and the club proud getting through to the Semi-Final of the main Cup competiton and drew, but then devistatingly went out on try count-back from previous pool round matches.
The U10s also made it through to the Bowl Final but were unlucky in this match and also came runners-up.
Well done everyone - fantastic results, and congratulations to the U12s on becoming Kent Cup Runners-up.

U13, U14, U15 and U17s all played in the Kent Festival Finals Day today.
The U13s were first up in the Cup Final and put in a good and whole-hearted performance against Blackheath, but eventually went down 12-5. The U14s then played Ashford and won the Plate Final 8-5, with the decision to take 3 points from a penalty 5 minutes into the game proving crucial. The U15s beat Thanet Wanderers in the Bowl Final and dominated the game to win 31-3. The U17s also played in the Bowl Final, beating Aylesford 7-0 to make it a hat-trick of victories for the club in one day.
Well done to all of the players, coaches and thank you to all the parents and supporters who travelled and cheered us on.

Congratulations to Elliot Sheppard (U14 - scrum-half), Anthony Creed (U15 - second row and prop) and Bobby Coles (U15 - No. 8) who have all been selected to be part of the Kent squads at their age groups. Elliot and Anthony had to go through a number of tough selection trials to get into the squads - well done lads. Bobby was already part of the Kent Elite Squad at U14s and had already firmly established his place in the Kent squad.
A number of other lads went for Kent trials, with a few getting through to the final trial sessions, but unfortunately just didn't make the final selected squads. Commisserations to Luke Edmonds and Matthew Lawrence (U14) and Michael O'Flynn (U15).

The 1st XV's 5th win in the League, a thumping 43-11 against Gillingham Anchorians, has consolidated thier position at the top of Kent 1. Another win for the A XV leaves them top of the Metropolitan Bishops Finger League and yet another w/o for the B XV gives the B XV maximum points so far and top the Early Bird League. So 3 sides top of 3 divisions - well done lads. 1st XV .. A XV
