Beccehamians 5 v Westcombe Park 41
Westcombe are one of the top sides that we face, always well organized, strong in defence and quick in the backs. On a big sloping pitch we started with the advantage off going downhill, unfortunately we conceded an early try before hitting our stride and totally dominating the rest of the half. Harvey had a great first half leading the charge, but we couldn’t break their defence until just before half time, with Robin touching down in the corner after a good run, making it 5-5 at the break. We should have been 3 scores up, as defending the slope was always going to be tough. This got even harder when early in the second half we lost Matt C and Tom with injuries. Combe passed the ball well to find the gaps, and gave us a bit of a pasting in the end. It was a hard lesson but when you have a team as good as this on the rack you must put points on the board, because they will have their moments.
