Sunday 19th September 2005 Beccehamians 0 - Dartfordians 0 Photos of the matches more.. After a challenging start to pre season training the Beccs U14 side looked forward to a tough first fixture. From the opening whistle, it was clear that this game was going to be a big test of superiority in the forwards. Whilst the Darts boys were big the Beccs pack were certainly up for the challenge and for the first twenty minutes of the game Beccs dominated the possession. But the Darts defence stood strong and prevented a determined Beccs pack from crossing the line. In the second quarter, whilst Darts improved their possession Beccs continued to spoil any attempts at getting organised. At the end of the first half Darts had spent little time in Beccs half and Beccs had clearly dominated, despite the score line. After the break a determined Darts side came out and put Beccs under a lot of pressure from the start. Darts continued their domination of the line outs, starting to turn over possession and finally organising some passages of Darts play. Whilst Beccs found themselves on the back foot for much of the second half they put up a strong and spirited defence. There were a couple of occasions at both ends of the pitch when a score seemed possible. However, on balance the Nil Nil score line was a fair reflection of a hard fought game by both sides. Players of note: Lukey, at scrum half had an excellent last game for Beccs, tackling aggressively and side stepping in attack with great style. He will be missed. James led like a true captain in the first half, coming off at half time after a clash of heads. Nick tried time and time again to break free of their forwards in attack Joe, in his debut for Beccs at number 8, played a strong and sustained role in attack. Man of the Match this week - Well Done! Finally, our coach and referee Nigel, deserves a mention for his unbiased refereeing and his sad departure from the field with his old war wound! Report by: Oliver Fitzgerald |
