Sunday 17th February 2008
Beccehamian 28 - 0 O.Alleynians

Another fine performance on Sunday resulting in a 0-28 winning result away to Old Alleynians. I was told Alleynians were having a good season but they just could not cope with a rampant Beccs side once we had warmed up to the fray.

Highlights of the game :
Some excellent driving mauls by the forwards with the ball securely held at the back. One 30 metre drive in the first half was fabulous to watch and the rolling around the sides to keep the drive going was awesome.

Rock solid scrummaging putting their pack under all sorts of pressure. With some excellent pick and drives by Sam at number 8.

Good quick ball was often produced which was speedily dispatched by George and it was gratifying to see the ball being passed down the line on numerous occasions (slick hands Jack and Charlie) with the wingers, particularly Angus, enjoying ball in hand with space to run into. When the backs gel and that ball moves down the line it is glorious to watch.

Two converted tries in the first half and Beccs led 0-14 at half time.

Some reshuffling in the backs and forwards during the second half but no momentum was lost and excellent rugby continued to be played and a further two converted tries were scored.

Particularly well done to 'A' team debutantes Chris and Richard.

All in all a fine day at the office, excellent from all of you.

But always something to work on :
Forwards - need to get to the breakdown a little quicker in adequate numbers. Exposed a couple of times where players were left a little isolated.
Backs - although improved the ball needs to be pushed down that line quicker and more often. You have whetted my appetite for the kind of exciting running rugby you are capable of and obviously I now want more more more.
