Sunday 11th December
BECCEHAMIANS 5 V Topnbridge Juddians 26
On a sunny cold Sunday morning, Beccs lost to Tonbridge-Juddians, who produced 4 breakaway tries to Beccs 1 try. With four boys excluded due to school cup competition, Beccs let themselves down with too many handling errors and a general loss of shape.
Danny was captain of Beccs .Some good performances from the two new boys Mat Carabache and Gregory Kelly. Credit should be given to Jamie Keate, coming back from injury and Harvey Jewel
Beccs started off really well, being camped in the Tonbridge 22 metre area for the 1st 10 minutes, with drives from Bobby and Anthony Creed, who nearly a scored, but was held up on the line.
Tonbridge scored in the 15th minute, which was converted and a second try was quickly run in by Tonbridge which was not converted.
A kick ahead by Anthony nearly produced a try.
Tonbridge scored their 3rd try with a great run by their winger, which was converted and Beccs found themselves 19 -0 down at half time.
The second half started with Tonbridge scoring and converting a try.
Beccs, then woke up and held Tonbridge. Bobby scored from a scrum 5M out with a great pick up and drive, but the try went unconverted.
A disappointing result as Beccs had pretty much played 90% of the game in TJ’s half of the pitch, but through handling errors and our inability to retain possession in contact we were unable to convert the territorial advantage that we had. Once again, indiscipline led to Beccs being down to 14 men for a period during the game.
